The final grand slam of the year, the US Open, starts in the New York borough of Queens on Monday. As ever, a good time to know in advance who plays well here and who struggles; as well as who might make a name for themselves.
Congratulations to Andrey Rublev (17 years old) Tommy Paul (18), Ryan Shane (21), Bjorn Fratangelo (22), and Marco Cecchinato (22), all making their grand slam main draw debuts this week.
Spare a thought for Santiago Giraldo or anyone called Lukas in the draw (Lacko and Rosol). These 3 are a combined 0-14 at the US Open.
Rafael Nadal might reach 200 grand slam main draw wins in the next couple of weeks, but with Novak Djokovic potentially in the quarter finals allied to Rafa’s own form, the odds of him going beyond 200 would appear slim.

Are you a betting man Andrew? 🙂
From time to time – but I don’t do this analysis for betting purposes. I want to drive greater rigour in analysis of data in tennis and this is my nod to doing that.
